Installation starts with the roof, not the gutter: eaves dimensions, roof pitch and catchment area determine the gutter profile and the number and position of outlets. Downpipes are placed where they can actually discharge — to a drain, a soakpit or a storage tank — rather than dumping water at the wall base.

We install with correct fall toward outlets (a gutter with no fall holds water and breeds mosquitoes), adequate brackets at close spacing so runs do not sag, and expansion allowances on longer runs. Where the client wants rainwater harvesting, we plumb downpipes into first-flush diverters and storage tanks as part of the same job.

Common gutter failures — sagging runs, leaking joints, detached downpipes, blockages at outlets and corners — are usually symptoms of poor original installation or deferred cleaning. We re-fix brackets at proper spacing, re-fall runs, replace failed seals and sections, and re-route downpipes that discharge against the building.

Rust and corrosion are treated at their cause. A gutter rusting through along its base is usually holding water because its fall was lost; fixing the fall and resealing is what makes the repair last, not a coat of paint over the corrosion.

Blocked gutters are the standard prelude to rainy-season damage. We clean gutters and downpipes, clear leaf guards and outlets, and flush the whole system so that the first serious storm finds the channels clear.

Before each rainy season we offer a preventive inspection: checking brackets and joints, verifying discharge points, and clearing yard drains and soakpits that receive the roof water. A morning's work before the rains reliably beats a repair call during them.
